GRADE II LISTED FARMHOUSE in the HEART of the DERBYSHIRE PEAK DISTRICT

From hill top Gratton in the snow From the hill Frosty morning

Things to do

Suffice to say this area has some of the best walking, mountain biking and climbing in the country - all straight from the front door.  More details and photographs to follow shortly. Alternatively get in touch and we will happily talk to you about the area.  There are also plenty of ideas in our latest Newsletter.

If visiting historic houses is more your thing then we have two of the best on our door step. Chatsworth House is just 8 miles away and Haddon Hall 6 miles.

Our nearest town is historic Bakewell, home of the Bakewell Pudding along with numerous antiques shops, cafes and craft shops.

Some guests choose to eat out in the many varied pubs and restaurants this part of the Peak District has to offer.  Here are some of our favourites, all just a short drive away.

The Druid Inn, Birchover
Devonshire Arms at Beeley, and Pilsley [both part of the Chatsworth Estate]
The Bowling Green, Winster.
The George, Youlgreave
The Farmyard, Youlgreave
The Flying Childers, Stanton in Peak
Felicini, Bakewell
Le Mistral, Bakewell
Matlock Balti, Matlock Bath

There is a lovely walk over the fields to Youlgreave if you would prefer not to drive.  This is no more than 3 miles each way.  There is also a very quiet lane if the fields are too muddy.  We will happily point you in the right direction!

If you are in Bakewell and fancy a coffee and a cake we love The Coffee Shop run by friends and Gratton neighbours Maggie and Phil.

Another great place for lunch in Bakewell is Ricci's Italian Cafe - one of our favouite places for lunch.
